Louisiana Trip

OK, it looks like it was March the last time we updated this; time to go again. We returned recently from visiting Louisiana - Kurt, Joie, and Avari - and find that the only pictures we have are of Avari. Well, she's the only one who changes from month to month anyway. We had a great time and really enjoyed playing with and watching Avari.

One of Avari's favorite things to do centered around "go potty". After retrieving the seat from the closet and setting it on the toilet, she would sit on it and request paper to wipe herself....or her version of wiping herself. Then flush it down and be done....no sign of any "going" potty. This time she happened to spot the Reader's Digest on the tub, and it seemed like a Hauschild picture - reading on the potty.

When we toured Nottaway Plantation (on Memorial Day, thus Avari's patriotic colored outfit from Uncle Dave) she spotted this rain water coming down the spout and definitely needed to drink.

Besides visiting them, we toured Avery Island and the Tabasco stuff - a regular tourist destination - and have some pictures of that.
You can see that layout is still an issue for me, but I think it's clear which pictures go with which captions!

Finally, an update!

OK, so we update even less than Johanna...but we usually have nothing new to tell since we talk to everyone on the phone so often. However, we do have some pictures of our birthday message to Eileen Ward, dad's beard and turtle shell, and the gourmet brownie dessert shared with Bobbie and Frank recently (really, you had to be there to appreciate it, but since I took a picture while we were laughing hysterically, I'll post it even if you can't see the humor)

Dad wants to make sure everyone appreciates his beard which he's grown now for 7 weeks. We have differing opinions on its attractivness but he's enjoying it.

Frank and Bobbie came over to entertain dad a couple Fridays ago and brought dinner in the form of Frank's famous and tasty pizza. So I said I would make a gourmet dessert. And I did have a good plan....double chocolate brownies with rich vanilla ice cream and dark fudge sauce! As I put the brownies in the oven at 5:00 o'clock, set the timer, and laid on the couch to rest, I said, "OD, make sure I don't sleep through the timer!" Well, you can foresee the end of this story...not only did I sleep, so did dad. And the brownies were a BIT overdone. I figured the fudge sauce would loosen them up, but no luck. We tried stabbing them with spoons and forks, but still no soft brownies.

The pictures were supposed to go AFTER the message, and there are no points awarded here for "artistic layout", but everything except the Eileen photo came through.
So, that's done!

EunHa's shower

OK, here are pictures of the wedding shower Mrs. Rellinger, Ripley, and Potts gave for EunHa. Yes, it was a long time ago, but I hate to try doing this technology stuff! Lots of ladies at the shower, and everyone had a really good time.

Finally, something new on here!

  1. New Year's day the Khatiwoda family came over to eat - they provided the turkey and "momos" a tasty steamed potsticker kind of Bhutanese food. I just showed them how to cook a turkey and introduced them to "stuffing". They now have quite a bit of family and friends from Bhutan (via the refugee camp in Nepal) that have settled here....with more to come before summer. So, they are happier and have become the "teachers" for the new people. They are moving forward quite well!
